Dear friends,
Silver Jubilee of Green Circle on 1.11.25, A milestone
In my life, I feel a profound sense of achievement. I founded and ran the organization GREEN CIRCLE for 25 years. I still remember the occasion when my friends and I established this organization in June 2001. By October 30, 2001, we completed the registration formalities in Delhi. However, I must admit that running an organization without sufficient funds and manpower was quite challenging. The inauguration took place at DTEA School in Janakpuri, Delhi, while the registration was done at my friend Mr. Ragarajan’s residence in Dwarka, which served as our registered office. My bank colleague Murali was with me through thick and thin. Many friends who joined at the time of registration eventually left the organization, but I persevered without losing motivation. I conducted several programs until 2010. After moving to my permanent home in Sector Dwarka, I intensified my activities. A flagship program of Green Circle was Saturday Shramdhan, where we collected plastic waste from parks and public areas. We organized numerous programs, but people came and went. There were difficult times filled with challenges. In 2021, I had to leave Delhi for a permanent settlement in Bangalore. I didn’t want to close Green Circle. Good friends in Dwarka offered to carry on the mission, but they were unsure about the administrative work. Green Circle found itself at a crossroads. I consulted my well-wishers in Dwarka about re-registering Green Circle in Bangalore, and they supported the idea. I was fortunate to have a great group of friends in Bangalore. They helped us re-establish Green Circle as a Charitable Public Trust. This allowed us to continue our work. The Dwarka unit agreed to serve as a chapter under the Trust. Today, we have vibrant chapters in Dwarka and Nainital. Some more chapters in Gurugram, West Delhi, and Vizag support us. We are expanding our reach. We now have groups on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, X, Telegram, and WhatsApp. In total, there are about 5,000 supporters across India. This is a moment of great celebration! We are getting ready to celebrate our Silver Jubilee on November 1, 2025, in Dwarka. I look back with a sense of satisfaction. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the well-wishers for your relentless support over the past 25 years.
Selva
